Ad esempio potrebbe star cercando di capire se appoggiare Moussavi sia conveniente o no – dopotutto Moussavi non è esattamente un fiore di campo democratico al 100%. Per quanto riguarda l’appoggio ai manifestanti, poi, si dice che ci siano state pressioni della Casa Bianca su Twitter perché rimandasse un aggiornamento – in modo che il canale restasse aperto per i dissidenti iraniani.

Sulla misoginia: l’Iran è strano in materia, afaik, almeno per molti aspetti – ad esempio la parità sul lavoro (almeno prima che arrivasse Ahmadinejad: e infatti i discorsi della moglie di Moussavi puntano molto sul far recuperare alle donne un ruolo economico prima ancora che politico o sociale).

Al di là dell’opportunità o meno di un bombardamento sui siti nucleari iraniani, che non sia ora il momento, mi pare ovvio: c’è un’occasione storica, magari non cambierà nulla ma è un’occasione enorme, non credo la vogliano buttare così.

yeah, well, Obama has no interventionist stance, at least publicly, he is more “wait and see”. covert military operations do still require a signing statement by the president, and US special ops units were there as late as June 08 (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92025860) and I doubt they just went home in February 09. but I don’t expect a classical military intervention by the US, most US military leaders were opposing that even at the time of Bush.

they can help the opposition, train people, gather intelligence, provide money and comfort,even start an insurgency, if the times are ripe. but it seems to me that outside the cities Mr. A. has a lot of support, still. it may all be wishful thinking on our part.

@Max, non sono brava con l’inglese ma credo di aver capito. Ma credo anche che Obama non abbia proprio voglia di cominciare nuovi conflitti. Forse è più probabile che aiuti l’opposizione, ma non apertamente. Naturalmente per quel niente che capisco di questo di cose :)
